Dodson Realty Company & Appraisal Specialists Inc. was founded by Aubrey S. Dodson in 1965.

A native of Campbell County, Virginia, Dodson was one of 12 children. He entered the business world during his early 20s by helping his brother Bertram establish Dodson Brothers Pest Control Company.

After a stint in the Navy, Dodson obtained a job with the Virginia State Health Department and first came to Giles County in 1946 as a sanitary engineer. He married Irene Parcell and they had two daughters, Sue and Connie.

He was always interested in real estate being a land speculator, owning property in Virginia, North Carolina and Nevada.

Besides owning the real estate company with his daughter Connie, he also owned Holiday Motor Lodge which houses Dodson Realty Company's offices as well. He was a member of the Sheffey Memorial Methodist Church in Staffordsville, former member and Chairman of the Giles County Board of Supervisors, Past Governor of the Ruritan Club, Member of the American Legion and Veteran of the Navy (World War II).

Aubrey enjoyed traveling and visited 47 foreign countries and made five trips to the Middle East.

Aubrey Dodson passed away on June 16, 2003 from lung cancer.
